The ship that forms the vanguard whenever PACT designates an enemy as powerful enough to deserve its deployment. The PACT Battleship is normally rare, as its size and complexity make them costly and time consuming to make, and most of the times a PACT Invasion Fleet formed by only cruisers can subdue any likely resistance from Neutral Planets or weakened nations. However, whenever the enemy is more powerful, this ships are deployed together with their counterparts, the PACT Carriers.

Their function is to act as the vanguard of the fleet. Thanks to their impervious armour, frame and shield their job is to be an unbreakable line to the enemy. Due to both their flak and shield expanding widely beyond the vessel, support fire vessels such as the frigates can also benefit from it. Since missiles and lasers are the only common way to deal damage at long ranges, the Battleships formations function perfectly at long range. Their mission is then to weaken the enemy line with their rockets and missiles (and lasers when both of them are depleted), until the point the enemy threat is negligible, which is when Cruisers jump in and mop up. The vessel is also equipped with a tractor beam to avoid a successful retreat by the enemy. In prevision of very heavy targets that manage to resist such a barrage, they have equipped very powerful kinetic guns to destroy them. Their main flaw is that, due to the guns being thought to be used against big and slow targets, their accuracy is very low. This means that a sufficiently agile and smaller ship like the Alliance Cruiser can defeat them in a straight short range fight, due to their very low agility and speed (which results in fights in ranges where the enemy ship can hit them but they can't hit the enemy). This was exemplified at the Battle of Far Port, where a surprise attacks by an inferior force managed to force the PACT capital ships in a short range fight where they were annihilated despite their superior numbers and support fire.

Weapons[ | ]

Focusing mostly on either long range or short range weapons, the Battleship raw power is fearsome even if it lacks refinement.

Laser[ | ]

The laser banks allow for accurate fire from a great distance but has the lowest damage potential of all the main weapons. This weapon is countered by shielding. Its more powerful than the ones from other comparable ships, but the accuracy is slightly lacking for a laser.

  • damage: 250 x 1
  • energy cost: 70 EN
  • base accuracy: 100

Kinetic[ | ]

The main forward guns do massive damage against any target it hits, but have the lowest accuracy of its main weapons. In the case of PACT this is doubled, as the guns are thought to be used only against very heavy and well armoured targets, so their accuracy is even lower. Their power is even higher though.

  • damage: 500 x 1
  • energy cost: 60 EN
  • base accuracy: 55

Missiles[ | ]

The missile banks are a fearsome long range weapon useful in doing good reliable damage even against distant enemy units. Stocks while limited are slightly superior to the ones in other similar ships, due to PACT reliance in missiles. It could be said that the main function of PACT Battleships in a normal PACT formation is both to anchor the line absorbing hits and function as a missile and rocket truck. Countered by Flak.

  • damage: 40 x 10
  • energy cost: 30 EN
  • base accuracy: 80 (degrades only 5% every cell)

Assault[ | ]

The vessels flak cannons can be used offensively against enemy targets and are particularly devastating against poorly armored enemy Ryders. Its high shot count makes it a very reliable damage dealer even against highly evasive targets. Any armor though is likely to negate most damage. PACT prefers slightly less guns but more powerful. Since they are thought to be used only against adjacent targets the accuracy is poor.

  • damage: 25 x 15
  • energy cost: 30 EN
  • base accuracy: 50

Rocket[ | ]

The ship is able to fire a fearsome but very expensive thermonuclear warhead from its missile banks. A rocket is quite a bit tougher compared to a regular missile and is harder to intercept by enemy flak, but it's still wise to overwhelm the enemy with regular missiles before risking one, a tactic which has become the staple of any remotely big PACT formation. It can be said that, due to the low accuracy of its kinetics, it's the main firepower of a PACT Battleship.

  • damage: 700 x 1
  • energy use: 50 EN
  • base accuracy: 80
  • enemy flak reduction: 10
